LYNN CARTER - Executive Director

Lynn has more than 30 years of professional experience in human services, predominantly mental health. Lynn's public sector work experience includes executive and management positions in administration, policy and program development, quality management and clinical service delivery to persons with developmental disabilities, psychiatric conditions and substance abuse treatment needs. After retiring from the Missouri Department of Mental Health as Deputy Department Director, Lynn joined the Midwest Special Needs Trust in September 2010 as Executive Director. Lynn is licensed in Missouri as a Clinical Social Worker, holding an M.S.W. from the University of MO School of Social Work.

BETTY SMALL - Administrative Assistant

Betty is a retiree of the State of Colorado and moved to the Columbia area in February of 2010. She worked in the Payroll Office and later in the Office for Academic Affairs at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado. During her employment with the State, Betty also worked at the Grand Junction Regional Center, a home for developmentally disabled residents, in the payroll and accounting office. She has a wide range of experience as a Staff Assistant and an Accounting Technician. Betty has an A.A. in Business Administration from Mesa State College. She joined the Midwest Special Needs Trust in July of 2010.

MARY LOU HUGHES - Individual Trust Account Specialist 

Mary Lou joined Midwest Special Needs Trust in June 2012, bringing more than twenty eight years of experience in the banking industry, with a focus on Trusts and Investments. A former bank manager, she has also had extensive experience working with two Fortune 500 companies, SunGard Asset Management Systems, as an installations consultant and Discover Card, as a marketing assistant in Atlanta, GA. Mary Lou is 2010 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado at the University of Colorado in Boulder. An important aspect of Mary Lou’s life is family. Her husband, Kevin is a Course Materials Buyer at MBS Textbooks in Columbia. She has two grown children, a son in Columbia and daughter in Nebraska, three grandchildren and an elderly father with whom she and her husband enjoy spending weekends and holidays.

GABE WILKERSON - Data Analyst/Report Specialist

Gabe has worked as an IT professional for 16 years. Originally from Iowa he has years of experience in Systems and Network Administration with a focus on process improvements and workflow efficiency.

CASIE STEPHENS - Individual Trust Account Specialist 

Casie has 5 years experience working for the Clay County Public Administrator’s office serving as a case manager for those whom had been deemed disabled and/or incapacitated by the court needing a Guardian and Conservator. Working mostly with those who have mental illness in residential care facilities, she brought knowledge of public benefits, Social Security, and services available to those with special needs when joining MSNT in September 2011 as an ITA Specialist. Casie graduated William Jewell College in 2006 with a BA in Psychology.
